In 1962, Truman Capote bought a six acre tract of land in Sagaponack, New York hidden behind “scrub pine, privet hedges and rows of hydrangea bushes.” He would build a housing complex on the property including a cottage, a garage, and a studio using weathered pine, creating a private and tranquil oasis that Capote referred to as “Kansas with a breeze.”
